Oil and Gas Tax E-filing (ONGARD)

After receiving approval from us you may file New Mexico oil and gas production tax returns electronically using Comma Separated (CSV) format, or you may enter the data for your return directly into the Oil and Gas Tax WEB filing site.

The CSV reporting format gives companies with limited resources an easier way to file electronically. The CSV format is widely used by other governments and the software industry. The format itself is not proprietary and is widely used by spreadsheet and database vendors. You can create the format programmatically using any language that can create a text file. The layout consists of fields separated by commas. It is important to note that commas cannot be used within the field data because they introduce extra fields into the record. You must conduct test submissions with the ONGARD Service Center when you file using CSV or the WEB format.

ONGARD online WEB tax filing is offered within the Electronic Commerce location of the ONGARD website. This is a simplified tax-filing process built with the limited-data taxpayer in mind. Most taxpayer information is either pre-populated or presented in a drop-down box of limited selections. Selected choices, along with data that you enter, compute the oil and gas production taxes due and allow you to submit tax returns immediately. The site offers status and history of all the actions you have performed. No proprietary software is required.

For approval, security access and further information from us about filing through any electronic means, please call the Compliance Section at (505) 827-0806.
