Audit Notices
We send several types of audit notices depending upon the situation. Each provides information on an audit selection, the name of the auditor, the information you must supply, the calculations made on your audit, and official closure advisement.
By state law (Section 7-1-11.2 NMSA 1978) you receive a written, dated notice indicating the start of an audit. The notice states the tax programs and reporting periods to be covered and the date that the audit begins. We must also provide a written notice of outstanding records or books of account that we have requested but have not received, if any. You may ask for additional time to comply with the notice of outstanding records and books of account. The request must be in writing and must state the amount of time needed.
