Tax Return Adjustment

A tax return adjustment notice tells you that we have adjusted your tax return because of a calculation error or an incorrect number. If the adjustment results in an overpayment or an underpayment, you will later receive an overpayment notice or an assessment notice. This is the first notice you will receive that we found an error and made a correction to your return.

This notice includes:

  • taxpayer identification information;
  • date of notice;
  • letter ID number;
  • type of tax abated;
  • report period;
  • abatement amounts for tax, penalty, and interest;
  • balance due after abatement, and
  • Taxation and Revenue Department contact information.
